We're a new platform and we won't pretend otherwise. No inflated stats, no fake testimonials. As real bookings come through, genuine customer feedback will follow.

A new way to book car servicing in the UK.
YourGarage was built around a simple idea: drivers shouldn't need a mechanic friend to get a fair price on routine work. Too many quotes arrive without a breakdown, and too many invoices look nothing like the estimate.
We're a brand new platform on a mission to change that, working with BookMyGarage, one of the UK's largest garage marketplaces, to show you transparent, like-for-like quotes before you commit. No upfront payment, no obligation, no sales pressure.
What drivers ask us most
Straightforward answers to the questions we hear every week. For more detail, check our dedicated MOT guide and car servicing guide.
- How much does a car service cost in the UK?
- It depends on the type of service and your vehicle. As a rough guide: an interim service runs £100 to £150, a full service £150 to £250, and a major service £250 to £400. German and premium brands tend to sit at the higher end. The best way to get an accurate figure is to enter your reg and postcode above. You'll see actual quotes from garages near you in about 30 seconds.
- What is the difference between an MOT and a service?
- An MOT is a legal safety and emissions inspection. Nothing gets replaced, only tested. A service is preventative maintenance: oil changes, filter replacements, fluid top-ups and a thorough check of wear items. You need an MOT every year by law (once your car is three years old). A service keeps the car running well and protects its resale value. Most drivers book both together to save time and money.
- Do I have to use a main dealer for my service?
- No. Under the Motor Vehicle Block Exemption Order 2023, any qualified garage can service your car without affecting the manufacturer warranty, as long as they follow the correct schedule and use parts that meet the original specification. Independent garages are often significantly cheaper than franchised dealers for the same work.
- How often should I service my car?
- Most manufacturers recommend a full service every 12 months or 12,000 miles, whichever comes first. If you cover a lot of miles, adding an interim service at the six-month or 6,000-mile mark keeps oil and fluids fresh between annual services. Your vehicle handbook has the exact intervals for your make and model.
- Is YourGarage free to use?
- Yes. There is no charge to compare quotes, no booking fee and no subscription. YourGarage is an affiliate of BookMyGarage. When you complete a booking, BookMyGarage pays us a commission for the referral. This comes from BookMyGarage's own revenue and is not added on top of your quote.
- What happens after I click compare?
- You'll be taken to BookMyGarage, where you'll see quotes from local garages. Pick the one that suits you, choose a time slot and confirm. The garage confirms the appointment and you turn up on the day. No card details are needed to reserve. You pay the garage directly once the work is done.
